The School Run

"The School Run" has been a long term project of mine to make going to school for Sims more UK-centric.

Around where I live, almost all children walk to school and there are certainly no big yellow school buses! Any school provided transport is of the smaller minibus/MPV variety and mainly restricted to private school students. Both local (public) and private school children wear uniforms, with local schools having "dress-down" days to raise funds.

General Requirements

  • Local (public) schools have a uniform
  • Replace school bus (big yellow thing) with a minibus (MPV)
  • Adults/Teens can leave for work/school if all children have a current interaction for going to school
  • Adult education career lower job levels (1-4) made family friendly (hours 9am-3pm to match school day)
  • Teen/Elder education career jobs to match after school hours (4pm-7pm)
  • School bus can be set as the car-pool

Aging Requirements

  • Toddlers, on growing-up, should be automatically enrolled into private school if any of their resident elder siblings attend private school

School Uniform Requirements

  • Both local and private schools have uniforms
  • Private school children wear all-weather blazers, local school children need different summer/winter uniforms
  • Local schools have "dress-down" Frdays

Travel Requirements

  • Private school students always go to school in the minibus
  • Pregnant teens always go to school in the minibus
  • Young children go to school in the minibus unless an elder sibling or parent walks to school
  • Older children and teens walk to the local school
  • Parents with jobs in the lower levels of the education career should accompany their children to/from school - minibus to private school or walk to local school
  • Teens/Elders with jobs in the education career should travel to work (school) as if they were going to school

Misc Requirements

  • As homework is brought home, it should be returned the next day (children carry homework, teens carry tablet/briefcase)
