10 - Helpful Advice
Wednesday afternoon and Nathan was in the ice-cream parlour. He sat at the end of the counter and waited for Kit-Kat to finish serving the Jimenez twins and come over.

"Hi, Nathan", Kit-Kat said
"Hi Gran", Nathan replied, "Natalie said you needed my help with a web-page and Facebook account".
Kit-Kat turned back towards the display cabinet, "Yes", she said, picking up a bowl and filling it, "but not so much 'help' as 'done for me'."
She placed the bowl in front of Nathan, it was his favourite.
"Think you can bribe me?"
Kit-Kat placed a spoon by the side of the bowl.
"No, you're going to do it, otherwise you wouldn't be here."
"But I also think you want my advice", she added knowingly. Whenever any of her grand-children called her 'Gran' it was a sure sign they had something on their mind.
Nathan jabbed the spoon into the ice-cream and took a large mouthful.
"So what's wrong with you then?", said Kit-Kat.
Nathan said nothing, just pointed at his mouth with the spoon, eyes popping.

"Brain freeze?" enquired Kit-Kat.
Nathan nodded.
"Probably should have warned you that tub just came out of the freezer."
"But where would the fun be in that?", she chuckled.
"Thanks for nothing!"
"So what's up?"
Nathan let out a big sigh, "Girls", he moaned.
"I assume we're not talking about your sisters."
Nathan, having taken another scoop, just nodded.
"Is that 'nod', we're talking about your sisters, or 'nod' we're not talking about your sisters?"
"No. Yes. Not my sisters."
"So half your problem with girls is not being able to communicate clearly", Kit-Kit ribbed him. "And I take it that when you say 'Girls', you really mean 'Girl'."
Nathan just nodded dejectedly and took another scoop.
"Ah, one special girl then."
Nathan nodded again.
"And you think I can help you how?"
"Well, you're a girl ..."
"Very observant of you"
"... and I just don't understand them."
"Oh, so we're back to plural girls now, are we?"
"No. Just one. But I just don't get what I did wrong."
"And ...", Kit-Kat urged him.
Nathan replayed the events of the previous Friday, or at least the edited highlights. Kit-Kat listened patiently, she already knew much more of the story - people tended to forget she was married to the retired Chief of Police.
"So, let me get this straight. You sneak out with this girl, break into a club, which gets raided, abandon her, scare her out of her wits and, just for good measure, after she's driven you home, run off into the night."
She paused for dramatic effect, "And you really don't know what you did wrong?"
Nathan looked like he'd been punched in the stomach - hunched over the counter, blood draining from his face, totally deflated. To him it had all been one big adventure, but when put like that ...
Kit-Kat placed a folder on the counter - Nathan looked at it as if it was a mystic tome, one containing the secrets of unlocking a woman's mind.
"Opening hours, product details, prices, offers", Kit-Kat said, indicating the folder.
Nathan looked confused.
"For - the - web - stuff", she said slowly, walking off to serve another customer.

"Be a dear and stick your bowl in the sink on your way out", she called back to him.
He waited for the customers to leave and then walked down to Kit-Kat. "But what should I do?" he asked plaintively.
"Well, if I were you, I'd start with this thing called HTML ..."
Nathan stomped out, huffing.
