17 - Blood Trail

Sophia-Grace carefully finished sewing the rips in the sleeve of her blouse. It had been one of her favourites, but was now ruined - and no amount of invisible mending could ever fix it

She liked sewing and was good at it - she'd got a gold girl-guiding badge for her needle point. She also had gold badges for makeup, hairstyling, couture, and room design - all valuable life-skills for a princess from a multi-million-simolean family, but useless for a Cinderella living in a clapped-out school-bus. Especially one who's Prince Charming didn't seem to be taking the hints.

She carefully stowed the food, brushing the road-dust from the vegetables that had spilled from the bags, making a mental note of what was most badly bruised and would need using first. Noticing the blood trail, she cleaned it up (not wanting to alarm Lottie and Ona in the morning) then assumed her usual position, cross-legged in the driver's seat and waited for Deano to return.

Sophia-Grace admitted to herself that even she'd over-reacted ... he couldn't possibly have known the connotations for her of that word. But he'd been ignoring her and he needed to suffer for that. But not like that. And, she admitted to herself, that she'd been playing a game that he just might not know the rules of. She was going to have to take matters into her own hands, and she was going to do it tonight.

Slipping off the chair, she spied another drop of blood on the step. Turning to look up the aisle for any more she'd missed, it dawned on her that it was a lot of blood for a small cut. Collecting her rudimentary first-aid kit, she went in search of Deano, to put another gold badge to use.
